Toolstation Western League - Premier Division

Verdict: A good battling performance saw Hallen over the line after 97 minutes. It was pleasing to see the effort put in by all and it was this attitude, together with at last playing as a team, that brought the three points back to Moorhouse Lane. If we perform like this throughout the season we will definitely win more games than we lose.

It has been a tough start to the season, and a visit to last seasons South West Peninsula Champions was not going to be an easy task. Still in the FA Cup having knocked out Shepton Mallet and Taunton Town they are unbeaten and scoring more than four goals per game.

A depleted Hallen side put in a spirited performance against a strong Tavistock side. In a tight first half there were few chances for either side but Tavistock looked very strong on the left hand side causing Hallen numerous problems but with Mitch Woolley returning in goal and looking safe between the sticks we comfortably finished the half scoreless.

After the break Hallen attacked with a lot more purpose hitting the crossbar though Mills and Davis missing a one on one with the keeper. Tavistock also had there chances and only strong defending kept the scores level unfortunately in the 85 minute Tavistocks late pressure resulted in a well worked goal.

Hallen pushed forward and got caught on the break when Dan Payne gave a penalty away with seven minutes remaining.
